Costco Burns Down Inside The Head Of A Dedicated Employee

Costco Burns Down Inside the Head of a Dedicated Employee is an experimental “anti-musical” opera that takes place in a Costco in Idaho Falls, a place not far from where I grew up in eastern Wyoming. The intertwining stories of an irritable old man, a shopaholic woman, a well intentioned cattle worker and a single mother and her foolhardy daughter explore the surreal hidden parallels between life and shopping in an absurd and magical-realist way . The renowned mega–grocery store becomes a jumping-off point for deep emotional themes and a complex array of musical styles, interpreted by an ensemble of 13 instrumentalists, 5 vocalists, and 6 actors – all members of NYC’s incredibly rich experimental music & performance scenes.
